Desktop cleanup

Windows XP can clean your desktop of unused icons. To turn it on or off, Do the following. (click on the hyperlink for instructions for that particular step)

Windows XP

Open up Display.
Click on the Desktop tab

Click on Customize Desktop

If you want it turned on then put a check in Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days.

Windows Vista Windows 7

Go to Control Panel (This link will open in a different window)
Double-click Performance Information and Tools

Click Open Disk Cleanup

Choose which files to clean up

Choose the drive you want to clean up and click OK

The system will scan the system

Results will appear, choose the settings you want and click OK
