Adobe Reader will not open in a web browser

Version 9

NOTE: Some procedures I have listed here has not been tested due to the fact I am not experiencing the issue but others have. Posting them here for the tech to use if needed

If you cannot open PDF on the web, try this

Register Adobe Reader 9

The unregistered version of Adobe Reader 9 sometimes prevents the user from viewing PDF's on the web

Edit the registry first method (I haven't tried this so cannot verify it works)

Be sure to back up your registry before performing this step

For a picture of the location in the registry, click the link

  1. Access REGEDIT (The page will open in a separate window)
  2. Double-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  3. Double-click Software
  4. Double-click Classes
    1. You may have to create the following keys
      1. Create Adobe
      2. Create Acrobat
      3. Modify the EXE key
      4. :Change "Default" to "C:\Program Files\Reader 9.0
      5. Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
      6. It should show up in regeditlike ""C:\..""

This will fix the issue, by telling the browser where to find Adobe Reader.
