A Choice of Two Windows XPs on bootup
Sometimes during an install of windows, the registry can show two operating systems on the computer when there is only one. Do the following to fix the issue.
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on System
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Click on Settings under Startup and Recovery
- Clear check boxes for "Time to display operating systems", and from "Time to recovery options when needed"
- Click on OK
- Restart the computer
The boot record can be updated by doing the following
- Click on Start
- Click on Run
- Type in MSCONFIG
- Click on OK
- Click the Boot.ini tab
- Click check all boot paths
- Click on Yes
- Click on OK
- Restart the computer
