Floppy drive seek failure
Do you get a message of a Floppy drive seek failure or similar message on boot up?
Do you have a floppy drive installed? If you don't, you need to disable the floppy drive in the bios. Click here for information on the bios
If you do have a floppy drive, the cable may be loose, have a disk in the floppy drive during boot up, bad cable, bad motherboard, or a bad drive. To troubleshoot, do the following
Read the Safety Procedures. Very Important!!!
- Push the eject button on the floppy drive.
- Did anything eject out?
- If a disk did come out, is the system working fine
now?
- If nothing came out, look inside the drive, do
you see a floppy in it?
- If you see a disk, the disk is jammed. You will need to replace the drive
- If it is working, then your done
- If it is not working, continue the next steps
- If nothing came out, look inside the drive, do
you see a floppy in it?
- If a disk did come out, is the system working fine
now?
- Did anything eject out?
- Use the Floppy drive troubleshooter
