Hard drive constantly running

If the hard drive is constantly running, there is different possible causes. Below is the various options to deal with the issue (click on the hyperlink for instructions on that step)

  1. The LED (Light Emitting Diode) for the hard drive activity may be connected incorrectly to the motherboard. Consult the manual for the motherboard to see where and how it is connected.
  2. The Indexing Service may be causing the issue. Try turning it off.
  3. You may have a virus or spyware. Use the Virus and Spyware Troubleshooter
  4. If you still can't resolve the issue, use the Software Troubleshooter.
