Other steps you can try are

  1. If you have more than one stick of memory (and it is not RDRAM. RDRAM requires all memory slots to be full. If that is the case you won't be able to try these steps on memory) Try only using one stick of memory. If that doesn't resolve it, try the other stick of memory.
  2. Try a different memory slot.
  3. If you have another hard drive that you don't mind erasing, try that drive. If it works than you know the other drive is bad.

If you tried steps 1 to 3 and still having issues than it is probably the motherboard or processor. Other than running diagnostics there is no way to know without trying to replace them. A local shop may have the parts to test on the system.
