Wrong Characters appear when you press a key on keyboard
When you press a key on the keyboard the wrong character appears. You may have the wrong keyboard selected.
Windows 9x Operating Systems
Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step.
- Close all running programs.
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-Click Keyboard.
- Click Language.
- Click on whatever the Layout type currently is (e.g. Canadian International).
- Click Properties.
- Find United States 101 in the drop-down menu and select it.
- Click on OK.
- Click on OK again.
- Click on Start
- Click on Shutdown
- Click on Restart
- Click on OK.
- Close all running Programs
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on keyboard.
- Click on Language.
- Click on Add
- Find English (United States) in the drop-down menu and select it.
- Click on OK.
- Make sure the other language is highlighted and click on Remove button. Repeat until only English (United States) is remaining.
- Click on OK.
- At this point you may see the following message: "Windows could not remove (Incorrect language) because one of your programs is currently using it. It will be removed next time you start windows. Do you want to continue?"
- This is normal, Click Yes
- Close all programs
- Click on Start
- Click on Shutdown
- Click on Restart.
