Screen goes blank

If your screen goes blank as it goes into windows during boot up, The problem is either the resolution is set too high for the monitor, the resolution set too high for the video card, or having hardware problems. To troubleshoot, follow these steps.

  1. Boot to Safe Mode.
  2. Go to Display
  3. Click on the Settings tab
  4. Click on Apply (you will get a warning. Just say yes to it)
  5. Reboot the computer and go into normal mode.
  6. If the problem still exists then delete the video card.
  7. Try a different monitor on the system. (if one is available)
  8. Set Bios to default and clear NVRAM.
  9. Try running diagnostics on system. (consult your computer manufacturer on getting diagnostics for the system)
  10. Try a different video card (if one is available)
  11. Use the Software Troubleshooter
  12. Consult your computer or video card manufacturer. They may have additional steps you can try.
