Speakers cause no boot

There can be various causes for the system not to boot when the speakers are connected.

  1. Speakers could be bad
  2. Sound card could be bad
  3. Motherboard can be bad

Try the following to determine which is the cause

  1. Try another set of speakers. If the problem continues, the speakers are not the issue. If the problem goes away then you will need to replace the speakers.
  2. If the issue is not with the speakers, the issue can be either your sound card or your motherboard (depends if the sound card is built into the motherboard or a PCI card.
  3. If the sound card is a PCI card, try another PCI sound card.
  4. If the sound is built into the motherboard, you will have to either replace the motherboard, or try a sound card in a PCI slot and see if that works.
