What folders and files should I back up 

 Files are stored in various places on the hard drive. People have a tendency to store files in places that are different than what the normal locations are. Therefore this page cannot guarantee that it will advice you of all the locations that you should back up. Also what gets backed up depends on the size of the files you are backing up and the amount of space available to back up the files. If you have 1 gig of data that you need to back up but you only have a 500 gig hard drive to back the files to, you won't be able to back up all the files and will have to select which files you want to back up. If you have the space on the back up drive, back up the user profile in the User folder or the Documents and Settings folder.

If you do not have the space to back up the entire folder, than back up the following folders.
