Installing Drivers, Updates and Admin

Some systems do not need drivers installed, some need a few drivers installed and some need all of the drivers installed. Unfortunately there is no way for me to state which ones you will need to install. To determine if you need a driver, you will need to go to the Device Manager to see if you need any drivers.

You should do the following

  1. You should run Windows Update to make sure you have all the updates

  2. Install an Anti-virus program (There is free and paid versions available)

  3. Backup your Registry ( by doing this you have a clean copy of your registry in the event a virus damages the registry. You can then restore portions of the registry)

  4. You should backup the Startup Menu. Some viruses can damage this and if you do not have a backup copy, you will have to restore all the shortcuts manually which is time consuming.

  5. Setup an automatic backup of your important files. Karen's Replicator is a free program that you can use.

Now you can install any programs that you want.
