How to input a hidden SSID

For added security for a wireless network, the administrator may make the SSID hidden. To access the site, you have to know the SSID in advance and know how to input it. To input the SSID, follow the directions. Below is how to do it for secured and non secured.

Secured wireless

  1. Right-click the wireless icon by the clock
  2. Click View available wireless networks
  3. Click Set up a wireless network for a home or small office
  4. Click Next
   
  • Type in the SSID in the Network name (SSID) field
  • Click Next
    •    
  • Select Set up a network manually
  • Click Next (This may appear and it may not. If it does go to next step)
    •    
  • Set your security to match the wireless
  • Click Finish

    Non-Secured wireless

    1. Right-click the wireless icon by the clock
    2. Click View available wireless networks
    3. Click Set up a wireless network for a home or small office
    4. Click Next
      5.    
    5. Type in the SSID in the Network name (SSID) field
    6. Click Next

    7. Select Set up a network manually
    8. Click Next (This may appear and it may not. If it does go to next step)

    9. Set WEP to Disabled
    10. Click Finish
