How to access Windows Update

For instructions on accessing Windows Update, choose your operating system

Windows XP

To access via the All Programs list, do the following

  1. Click Start
   
  1. Click All Programs
   
  1. Click Windows update

To access via the control panel, do the following

  1. Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
  2. Double-click Automatic Updates
   

  1. Click Windows Update Web site

To access via the run command do the following

  1. Access Run or Search window (Page will open in a separate window)
  1. Type wupdmgr

Access Updates via the update shield by doing the following

  1. If there is a shield by the clock (It might not be there or it may be hidden)
   
  1. Click on The shield

Windows Vista and Windows 7

To access via the All Programs list, do the following

  1. Click Orb
   
  1. Click All Programs
   
  1. Click Windows Update
