Advantages

The data is saved on two hard drives and therefore there is always a backup of the data. One hard drive crahes, you install a new one and the data is still there.

Disadvantages

Not portable. Corruption can destroy data on both drives.

When you are copying the contents of one folder to another, it may appear to be a success. However there are times that some files do not get copied over and if you don't verify the folder, you may loose some files.
